Geotechnical engineering focuses on the ground beneath every project. Geotechnical professionals investigate soil, rock, groundwater, and site conditions to determine whether land can safely support buildings, bridges, roadways, retaining walls, utilities, and other infrastructure.


Position Summary:

The Vice President is a primary leader within the firm. This position leads client service, technical staff management, strategic planning, engineering processes and procedures, and project execution for the Division.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage, mentor and lead staff within the Division.
  • Deliver PEC’s purpose and vision to our clients and staff.
  • Uphold the technical reputation of the Division.
  • Promote services of the Division within PEC and outside to current and potential clients.
  • Provide workload management of team members in the Division.
  • Oversee Division efficiency for production of work product.
  • Manage project risks related to technical portions of Division.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce appropriate Business Practices and Quality Procedures specifically related to the Division.
  • Manage Division costs to within budgets.
  • Set Division standards and deliver projects within those set standards.
  • Collaborate between departments to achieve company vision.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.

Special Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Experience in managing staff members preferred
  • Accustom to collaborating with diverse engineering disciplines.
  • Understand current trends within the construction industry and specific Technical Discipline.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent in non-engineering Divisions (Geologist, Surveyor, or Construction/Project Manager)
  • A minimum of 15 years of actual experience in the design and construction industry.

License and Certification:

  • Professional license preferred/

Duties involved require moving materials that weigh up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator and similar machines. At times, bending, reaching, standing, and walking may be required.
