Mechanic
CONDITIONS
Position Overview
About the position: Select's Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing mechanical problems, repairing and rebuilding equipment on or off-site.
Essential Functions
  • Maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventative maintenance requirements, correcting vehicle deficiencies, adjusting, and alignments, and keeping records.
  • Ensures a clean, safe work environment at all times.
  • Identifies and maintains an inventory of high-use, common maintenance items.
  • Functions "on-call" in order to respond to emergency callouts.
  • Controls costs of in-house and outsourced maintenance or repairs through use of warranty and vendor evaluation.
  • Maintains transportation fleet in a manner that ensures the safety and protection of employees, clients and general public including the environment.
  • Must possess valid driver's license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle according to Select's insurance guidelines.

Work Experience
  • 3 to 4 years of related work experience is required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust is expected.
  • Exposure to noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection
  • Prolonged sitting, standing, walking
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to individually lift: Maximum 50 lbs
  • Reports to Manager, Shop.

Education
  • Accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program is highly preferred.
