POSITION SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and standardizing manufacturing processes while leading capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
This role serves as a key technical resource responsible for improving production efficiency, reducing costs, enhancing quality, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The position integrates responsibilities across process engineering, manufacturing engineering, and industrial engineering to drive operational excellence.
The Manufacturing Engineer will lead equipment implementation, process design, workflow optimization, and CI initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma principles, while partnering cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Maintenance, PD, and external vendors.
Requirements
WHAT YOU BRING (MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS)
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Understanding of electromechanical equipment, with the ability to troubleshoot, determine root cause, develop, and implement corrective actions.
  • Understanding of manufacturing terms such as takt time, cycle time, efficiency, yield, etc.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills - written & verbal.
  • Process improvement mindset.
  • Understanding of project management tools and techniques and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and other equipment documentation.

Preferred Job Qualifications
      • 3+ years of experience working in a cGMP manufacturing facility.
      • 3+ years of experience writing or improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or detailed work instructions
      • 3+ years of experience applying Six Sigma, Kaizen, 8 wastes, or 5s methodologies in manufacturing.
      • 1+ years of experience creating and managing project schedules.
      • 1+ years of experience with AutoCAD

WHAT YOU'LL DO (ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)
  • Designs and streamlines production processes to drive optimum output without sacrificing quality and employee/food safety.
  • Acts as a technical lead on changes to existing process systems and new technologies, supporting product scale-up and process optimization.
  • Identifies root causes of performance gaps (speed, downtime, manning) and leads cross-functional efforts to eliminate barriers.
  • Develops and executes capital projects, including equipment selection, ROI justification, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives using Lean/Six Sigma tools to reduce waste, improve productivity, and lower manufacturing costs.
  • Analyzes production data (OEE, yield, cycle time, downtime) to drive data-based decisions and improve process capability.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains SOPs and work instructions to standardize processes and ensure compliance with quality and safety requirements.
  • Partners with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and R&D to troubleshoot issues, improve equipment reliability, and support new product introduction (NPI).
  • Drives labor and workflow optimization, including line balancing, staffing efficiency, and material flow improvements to increase capacity.
  • Prepares reports, feasibility studies, and capital requests while tracking project performance, savings, and continuous improvement results.

  • Work occasionally near mechanical parts where the noise level can be moderate to high.
