Job description

Emergency Department Position

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.

1. Assist doctors, nurses, and other medical staff in implementing each patient's plan of care in the Emergency Department by performing clinical procedures and other tasks within scope of practice.

2. Assist with observation of patients gathering data and identifying patient care needs. Document patient information accurately in medical records.

3. Prepare patients for examination and treatment.

4. Collects specimens such as blood, urine, and stool samples for laboratory testing.

5. Set up and operate medical equipment needed for patient care.

6. Help with transportation of patients within the hospital.

7. Document patient information accurately in medical records.

8. Maintain cleanliness and organization within the Emergency Department, adhering to infection control standards. Replenish supplies and ensure necessary equipment is readily available.

9. Perform other duties as assigned

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of technician education in a specific area and specialty e.g. EMT-Basic EMT-Paramedic or PCT (patient care technician) preferred.
