Job description

The Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate care to patients under the guidance of physicians and nursing staff. This position requires timely and accurate documentation in accordance with healthcare policies and demonstrates proficiency in unit-specific competencies, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient care across all age groups, from newborns to geriatrics, to achieve optimal health outcomes.
  • Adhere to privacy and security regulations protecting patient health information.
  • Maintain professional and effective communication with patients, families, healthcare team members, and external agencies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the healthcare team.
Education and Experience:
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Home Health Aide (HHA) OR completion of at least one semester of nursing school.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification prior to patient care involvement.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training in sterile technique, sterile field maintenance, and instrument handling (Obstetrics and Surgery).
  • Completion of on-the-job EKG and phlebotomy training (Emergency Department).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a medical environment.
  • Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification (ASCP) is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Basic to moderate computer skills, including familiarity with telesitter technology.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform very heavy work, occasionally lifting over 100 lbs and frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing or walking for 75-100% of the workday.
