Job description

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Reliability, Electrical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

As a Printed Circuit Board Design Hardware Engineer, you'll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for the following:

  • Assist the Electrical Engineering product design team in the layout of high speed/high density multi-layer Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) to MIL/IPC standards using PCB design tools, with experience in Siemens DX Designer and Xpedition Enterprise preferred. Support design efforts using PTC CREO and AutoCAD design tools.
  • Support thermal and mechanical analysis to ensure reliability under operating requirements. Gain exposure to thermal issues and assist in diagnosing thermal-related problems. Support the Qualification process of all PCBs designed in house. Support the Procurement and Fabrication of the PCBs. Assist in troubleshooting fielded equipment failures traced to PCBs.
  • Assist in the development of CAD layout including symbol creation, library management (component footprints, schematic symbols), and component placement, with growing understanding of constraints management, topology, and signal/trace integrity, as well as contributing to documentation and drawings for manufacturing and assembly.

Work closely with Engineers within the organization to learn best practices, contribute to design discussions, and participate in design reviews.

We encourage you to apply if you have any of these preferred skills or experiences:

  • Basic knowledge of PCB materials, mechanical structure of vias and traces, plating of circuits, manufacture of PWBs and Printed Wire Assemblies (PWAs), PCB shapes and mounting.
  • Familiarity with Testing Procedures: Basic understanding of PCB testing methodologies, including functional testing, in-circuit testing (ICT), boundary scan testing, and automated optical inspection (AOI).
  • Component-Level Troubleshooting: Developing ability to assist in diagnosing issues at the component level, including identifying faulty components and connections.
  • Schematic and Layout Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret PCB schematics and layouts to support test plan development.
  • Experience with Siemens DX Designer and Xpedition Enterprise tools is preferred but not required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Some knowledge of IPC specifications and standards relevant to PCB manufacturing, assembly, and testing (e.g., IPC-2221, IPC-7711, IPC-A-610).

What sets you apart:

  • Foundational proficiency with modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and drawings
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, as well as technical, government, and industry standards
