To thrive as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA), you need a basic understanding of personal care, hygiene assistance, and sometimes a high school diploma or relevant certification, depending on state requirements. Familiarity with patient care documentation tools and, in some cases, training in CPR or first aid are typically expected. Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills help PCAs build trust and rapport with clients.
