What is the Opportunity?

RBC is seeking a Petroleum Engineering Technician to join the Credit Risk Engineering team. In this position, you will act as technical support for Canadian and U.S. oil and gas evaluations. You will collaborate with professional engineers, internal stakeholders across Group Risk Management, Corporate Banking, and Investment Banking, as well as RBC's external lending syndicate partners.

What will you do?

  • Prepare spreadsheets for oil and gas lending evaluations
  • Extract and manage electronic data transfer and retrieval from independent engineering reports
  • Research of quarterly financial reports, data collection and database management
  • Support in lending portfolio analysis projects

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency and strong PC literacy with ability to quickly adopt new software
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines
  • Energy sector knowledge is definitely preferred but not essential if other skills are strong.
  • Ability to commit over and above regular hours as occasionally required
  • Ability to create and format professional documents and presentations using standard office productivity tools
  • Capability to read, interpret, and work with computer-based cash flow models
  • Previous experience with engineering software such as ValNav, Aries and geoSCOUT, a definite asset but not essential
