What You'll Do
  • Administer and maintain timekeeping and payroll systems to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance. Ensures compliance with multiple union contracts.
  • Process payroll by reviewing and reconciling timecards, pay rates, deductions, garnishments, and accruals to meet payroll deadlines.
  • Enter, update, and maintain employee payroll and HRIS data, including new hires, employment changes, garnishments, reimbursements, and other transactions.
  • Prepare and submit required payroll reports, audits, and filings (e.g., W-2s, ACA, DOL, workers' compensation, Medicare cost reports, retirement audits).
  • Stay current on payroll system updates and requirements, including federal and state regulations, forms (e.g., W-4), and best practices.
  • Create payroll-related general ledger entries and reports for Finance. Actively participates in year end audits.
  • Provide Department of Labor information as requested; compile data for market salary surveys and wage comparison systems for the CHRO.
  • Process year-end W-2s, ensure accuracy, distribute to employees, and submit required reports to the SSA and State of Minnesota.
  • Maintain payroll-related tracking, including FMLA, union seniority, and benefit deductions.
  • Provide payroll support to employees and leaders, including employment verifications and reporting requests.

Wage
  • $32.00 - $42.00 per hour.

Schedule
  • Full-time, non-exempt. Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years of payroll experience, including end-to-end payroll processing responsibilities
  • Experience creating, configuring, and maintaining payroll and HRIS systems
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll practices (wages, deductions, garnishments) and compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications
  • College coursework or degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field
  • Human Resources experience
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification or willingness to obtain within one year of employment
