Job description

  • Provide legal counsel and support to Bank of America's Global Payments Solutions business on legal, regulatory, and commercial matters
  • Review and negotiate legal documents, customer-facing documentation, and commercial agreements
  • Interpret laws and regulations, perform legal research, and communicate legal advice to internal partners and leadership
  • Advise on cash management and treasury services, including funds transfers, foreign exchange, check products, digital disbursements, electronic bill payment, payment services, and e-commerce initiatives
  • Support responses to government examinations and investigations, enforcement actions, private complaints, and litigation
  • Direct outside legal counsel and coordinate other Legal staff; train, mentor, or support peer development
  • Advise on domestic and international payment, messaging, clearing, and settlement systems, including Fedwire, CHIPS, and SWIFT
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance across products, transactions, and business processes
  • Collaborate with compliance, risk, audit, and business stakeholders to mitigate legal and regulatory risks
  • Support innovative payment and treasury solutions involving digital assets, stablecoins, blockchain, distributed ledger technologies, tokenized deposits, and emerging digital payments initiatives
Requirements
  • 6-12 years of law firm and/or internal counsel experience in the payments or financial services industry, including cash management
  • Solid understanding of banking laws, regulations and rules impacting cash management services
  • Strong organizational, drafting and negotiation skills
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills at all organizational levels
  • Ability to manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to balance risk and reward and act as a strategic partner
  • Active bar membership in good standing
  • Doctorate degree in related field
  • Meaningful experience with digital assets, stablecoins, blockchain and distributed ledger technologies, tokenized deposits, and emerging financial infrastructure and digital payments initiatives (desired)
  • Credit support negotiation experience/background (desired)
  • Project management experience (desired)
