Job Title: Product Manager - Unified Payments (Pay-ins, Payouts & Embedded Finance)

Location: Berkeley Heights, NJ / Alpharetta, GA

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to help build a unified payments platform that brings together pay-ins, payouts, merchant acquiring, and embedded financial capabilities into a single solution for platforms and marketplaces.

This role requires a strong understanding of the end-to-end money movement lifecycle, including acceptance, disbursement, settlement, routing, reconciliation, and underlying platform APIs. The ideal candidate excels at translating complex payment flows into clear product requirements, collaborating closely with engineering, and ensuring delivery of high-quality, scalable payment capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements & Documentation

  • Create clear, comprehensive Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and functional specifications.
  • Document end-to-end payment flows including pay-ins, payouts, settlement, routing, reconciliation, and merchant lifecycle scenarios.
  • Maintain precise user stories, acceptance criteria, and business rules in partnership with cross-functional teams.

Technical Collaboration & Delivery

  • Serve as the primary liaison between product, engineering, and QA teams.
  • Work with technical leads to convert business needs into scalable system designs and API specifications.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX, API, and data teams to ensure technical alignment with product vision.

Process & Flow Design

  • Develop detailed process maps, system interaction diagrams, and transaction journeys using Visio, Miro, or Lucidchart.
  • Ensure accuracy of payment orchestration flows across authorization, capture, disbursements, and funding events.
  • Support design of multi-rail routing and money movement architecture for platform use cases.

Product & Release Management

  • Support backlog management, sprint planning, and prioritization of features and enhancements.
  • Participate in QA review, UAT validation, and release readiness.
  • Track delivery milestones and ensure on-time, high-quality product launches.
  • BRD Finalization: Finalize end-to-end documentation of business requirements, flows, high and low level designs, and build phases.
  • Execution Tracking: Manage detailed execution plans and sprint-level deliverables
  • Solution Refinement: Continue to refine requirements and definitions throughout development and pivot as needed for market needs
  • Operationalize the Product: Align implementations, billing, risk and compliance practices, servicing, and support for the solution
  • Trade-Off Analysis: Provide input for prioritization decisions balancing scope, timeline, and quality

  • Leverage AI tools and technologies in day-to-day workflows to improve efficiency, decision-making, and operational outcomes.
  • Identify and conceptualize AI-driven use cases within the product portfolio to enhance client experience and strengthen the overall value proposition.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI capabilities into product design, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory standards.
  • Translate business challenges into AI opportunities, creating actionable strategies for implementation and measurable impact.

Preferred Experience

  • 10 years of experience in product management within payments, pay-ins, payouts, merchant acquiring, money movement, or financial services.
  • Experience with platform or marketplace payment flows, payment acceptance, payout orchestration, and merchant lifecycle events.
  • Familiarity with APIs, microservices, and modern digital banking or payment processing systems.
  • Understanding of settlement, reconciliation, chargebacks, funding, and transaction lifecycle management.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Certifications in Agile, Scrum, or Business Analysis (e.g., CSPO, CBAP) are a plus.
