Job description

Park Paving is a locally owned and operated company and has been in business for over 50 years as one the largest road construction contractors in Edmonton. We are currently seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our team as a Skid Steer / Loader Operator for our Landscaping Division.

This is a full-time seasonal position with competitive wages.

The primary duties for this position will include, but are not limited to:

    • Safely operate skid steers, loaders, and various attachments.
    • Load, move, spread, and place soil, gravel, sand, mulch, sod, and other landscaping materials.
    • Excavate and remove material to required depths.
    • Complete rough grading and prepare areas for sod, paving stones, retaining walls, and other landscape features.
    • Complete final grading and leveling to required elevations.
    • Backfill and level excavated areas.
    • Load and unload trucks and equipment.
    • Move and stockpile materials throughout the jobsite.
    • Operate equipment around curbs, sidewalks, buildings, trees, utilities, vehicles, and other structures.
    • Use buckets, forks, sweepers, grapples, and other attachments when trained and authorized.
    • Assist with preparation for paving stone, retaining wall, irrigation, planting, and other landscaping installations.
    • Assist operators and crew members with spotting and working around utilities and other site obstacles.
    • Read and understand basic grade stakes, elevations, measurements, and stringlines.
    • Assist the landscape crew with physical labour and site activities when equipment operation is not required.
    • Perform general site preparation and cleanup.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Requirements

    • Previous skid steer and/or loader operating experience.
    • Experience with grading, excavation, landscaping, or civil construction.
    • Ability to understand basic grades, elevations, and grade stakes.
    • Strong situational awareness when working around workers, utilities, vehicles, buildings, and other equipment.
    • Ability to safely operate equipment for extended periods.
    • Ability to get in and out of equipment safely and frequently throughout the day.
    • Ability and willingness to perform physical labour when required, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively with the Foreman and other crew members.
    • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence or higher.
    • Driving record that meets Park Paving's minimum standards.
    • Experience operating a variety of skid steer and loader attachments is considered an asset.
