Now Hiring: Construction Paving Specialist
(Heavy Equipment | CAT Asphalt Paving Equipment | Construction Sales Support | Houston, TX)
Mustang Cat is seeking an experienced Construction Paving Specialist to serve as the technical and commercial expert for Caterpillar's industry-leading paving product line. This highly visible role partners with customers, sales representatives, rental operations, and product support teams to deliver equipment solutions that improve productivity, maximize uptime, and help customers successfully complete their paving projects.

What You'll Do
As the dealership's paving equipment specialist, you'll support the growth of Caterpillar paving products by combining technical expertise with customer consultation and sales support.
Sales & Customer Development
  • Partner with Territory Sales Representatives to identify equipment opportunities and grow market share.
  • Participate in customer meetings, jobsite visits, product demonstrations, and equipment presentations.
  • Develop relationships with paving contractors, municipalities, and asphalt producers.
  • Recommend equipment solutions based on customer applications and operational needs.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive products, and customer buying patterns.

Technical Product Expertise
  • Serve as the dealership's subject matter expert for CAT asphalt pavers, compactors, cold planers, screeds, and paving technologies.
  • Provide application guidance and operational best practices.
  • Assist customers and internal teams with equipment troubleshooting and technical support.
  • Coordinate with Parts and Service teams to maximize customer uptime.
  • Deliver product training for customers and dealership employees.
  • Stay current on Caterpillar technologies, telematics, grade control systems, and new product introductions.

Customer Success
  • Build long-term relationships through responsive service and trusted technical guidance.
  • Visit customer jobsites to evaluate applications and recommend equipment solutions.
  • Collect customer feedback and share market intelligence with dealership leadership and Caterpillar.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Rental, Sales, Service, Parts, and Product Support teams.
  • Support marketing events, trade shows, paving demonstrations, and customer appreciation events.
  • Assist with inventory planning and stocking recommendations.

What We're Looking For
  • 3+ years of experience in paving equipment, heavy equipment sales, construction operations, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of asphalt paving operations and paving equipment applications
  • Experience with Caterpillar paving equipment preferred
  • Technical aptitude and mechanical understanding of heavy equipment
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Consultative approach to solving customer challenges
  • Ability to conduct equipment demonstrations and customer training
  • Experience with CRM software and Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent industry experience)
  • Spanish bilingual skills are a plus

Physical Requirements
  • Work outdoors in active construction environments and varying weather conditions
  • Climb on and inspect heavy equipment safely
  • Travel regularly throughout the assigned territory
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
