Job description

Delaware Valley Paving is expanding into the Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas market and is seeking an experienced Paving Superintendent to lead field operations and support the continued growth of our paving division.

The Paving Superintendent will oversee all aspects of asphalt paving operations—from planning and scheduling through field execution and project closeout—ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget. This position will play a key role in establishing Delaware Valley Paving’s presence in the Dallas–Fort Worth market while maintaining our standards for safety, quality, productivity, and customer service.

The ideal candidate brings extensive hands‑on asphalt paving experience, strong field leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage paving crews, equipment, subcontractors, and multiple active projects.

Key ResponsibilitiesField Operations & Project Execution
  • Oversee daily asphalt paving operations from mobilization through project completion
  • Manage paving activities including site preparation, milling coordination, asphalt placement, compaction, grading, and related roadway or sitework
  • Ensure projects are completed according to plans, specifications, schedules, and quality requirements
  • Develop and manage daily and weekly production schedules, manpower needs, equipment requirements, and production goals
  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers to align field operations with project schedules, budgets, and customer expectations
  • Plan crew and equipment movements to maximize productivity across multiple active projects
  • Coordinate asphalt plant schedules, trucking, material deliveries, and paving sequences to maintain efficient production
Team & Site Management
  • Supervise and provide leadership to Foremen, Paving Operators, Roller Operators, Laborers, Drivers, and subcontractors
  • Effectively allocate manpower, equipment, and resources across projects
  • Maintain a strong field presence and provide clear direction to crews
  • Hold field teams accountable for safety, productivity, workmanship, attendance, and overall performance
  • Assist with developing and mentoring Foremen and other field leaders
  • Promote a team-oriented environment focused on safety, quality, and production
Quality Control & Safety
  • Ensure paving operations meet Delaware Valley Paving’s quality standards and client expectations
  • Monitor asphalt placement, temperatures, depth, grade, slope, joints, compaction, and overall finished product
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and industry best practices
  • Enforce OSHA requirements and company safety policies on all job sites
  • Conduct regular site inspections and immediately address safety concerns, quality issues, or production deficiencies
  • Coordinate traffic control and job-site logistics to maintain safe and efficient operations
Coordination & Communication
  • Interface professionally with inspectors, general contractors, owners, engineers, municipalities, vendors, and clients
  • Coordinate subcontractors, trucking, material suppliers, asphalt plants, and equipment needs
  • Communicate project progress, production, schedule changes, and field challenges to Project Managers and company leadership
  • Participate in project planning and pre-construction meetings as needed
  • Assist in resolving field issues, schedule conflicts, change orders, and unforeseen project conditions
  • Represent Delaware Valley Paving professionally with customers and industry partners throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth market
Cost Control & Productivity
  • Monitor daily production, labor hours, trucking, equipment utilization, material usage, and job costs
  • Track paving quantities and production against established project goals
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement solutions to improve field productivity and profitability
  • Minimize downtime through proactive planning of crews, equipment, trucking, and materials
  • Work closely with Project Managers to ensure field decisions support project budgets and schedules
  • Assist in evaluating field-driven changes and potential cost impacts
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of asphalt paving experience required
  • Proven experience in a Paving Superintendent, General Superintendent, Paving Foreman, or similar field leadership role
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial and/or roadway asphalt paving operations
  • Strong understanding of asphalt placement, compaction, grading, milling, trucking, and paving equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and manage paving crews
  • Experience coordinating paving equipment, trucking, asphalt plants, materials, and subcontractors
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, schedules, and project documents
  • Experience managing multiple active job sites and field crews
  • Strong understanding of construction safety requirements and paving quality-control practices
  • Familiarity with Dallas–Fort Worth construction and paving market preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex and surrounding Texas markets as project needs require
  • Strong field leadership and crew management
