Job description

RDM International, Inc. is seeking an eager, energetic, and self-motivated Engineering Technician to join our team. This position offers hands-on experience performing airfield and roadway electrical engineering and planning aspects related to civil engineering projects. You will collaborate closely with all levels of experienced project team members, receive on-the-job training, and contribute to real-world challenges in evaluation and design within the aviation landscape.

Skills:

· Expert-level Computer Aided Design skills using AutoCAD and Civil 3D software A MUST

· Ability to prepare complex facility and sitework construction drawings.

· Excellent technical writing skills.

· Experienced with Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.

Job Description:

· Perform field inspections to record existing conditions for development of CAD drawings.

· Prepare complete drawing sets using AutoCAD and Civil 3D using the sheet set manager.

· Develop and maintain CAD standards and detail databases for engineering firm.

· Provide occasional AutoCAD and Civil 3D training.

· Perform limited design of power, communication, airfield lighting, and navigational aid systems.

· Prepare electrical and civil construction specifications.

· Prepare electrical and civil quantity takeoffs from construction drawings.

· Work on teams with engineers, contractors, and others to address demanding design and construction matters.

· Conduct field inspections of work on construction sites to document progress and quality.

Schedule:

· Typically work a standard 8-hour day shift in the office, Monday to Friday

· Occasional local and multi-day travel required.

· Occasional night work required.

The position is located in Midlothian, VA. The position is on-site not remote work.

Education:

· Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, design technology, or related field (preferred) or an additional 2-3 years equivalent work experience.

· AutoCAD training certificate(s) (preferred)

Experience:

· 5-6 years using CAD for facility & infrastructure design projects (required)

· Expert-level skills in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (required)

· Experience with electrical facility & utility design (preferred)

· Has developed CAD standards, managed CAD detail databases, and provided CAD training (preferred)

Other Requirements

· Possession of a Real ID Virginia driver’s license.

· Able to obtain security clearance for work on airports (required)
