The selected candidate will perform mental health evaluations, craft individualized treatment plans, and implement therapeutic interventions both in individual and group settings.

About the Organization

New Pattern Counseling Center is a community-focused health clinic located in Trenton, New Jersey, dedicated to enhancing the psychological well-being of individuals and families in our care. Our mission is to provide compassionate mental health support tailored to the unique needs of our clients. We prioritize a holistic approach that integrates behavioral and emotional support in a nurturing environment.

Work Environment

As a remote organization, we provide mental health counselors with the flexibility to work from home while maintaining strong connections to our team and clients. Our clinic fosters a collaborative atmosphere, encouraging an exchange of ideas and strategies among all healthcare providers. We utilize advanced telehealth platforms to facilitate sessions, ensuring that our counselors can effectively reach and support clients regardless of their location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive preliminary assessments, documenting client histories from the first consultation through to the completion of their treatment.
  • Evaluate clientsโ€™ mental, emotional, and behavioral health, using evidence-based assessment tools.
  • Develop personalized intervention and recovery plans tailored to individual, couple, family, and group dynamics.
  • Facilitate engaging individual therapy sessions as well as dynamic group therapy sessions with a focus on skill-building and emotional support.
  • Monitor and document client progress throughout their treatment plan, adjusting strategies as needed to meet therapeutic goals.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare providers, including psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses, to create cohesive treatment plans for clients.
  • Ensure proper follow-up with medical professionals for clients admitted to inpatient settings, advocating for their mental health needs.
  • Identify potential barriers to recovery and implement strategies to prevent behaviors that may hinder clientsโ€™ progress.
  • Support family members and primary caregivers in understanding and managing the mental and behavioral challenges their loved ones face.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily serves a diverse patient population, including children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing a variety of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, and addiction issues. The successful candidate will be adept at tailoring interventions to align with the specific needs of each demographic, ensuring that care is effective and culturally sensitive.

Qualifications
  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of New Jersey.
  • Successful completion and pass score on relevant licensing examinations, such as the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Proven experience as a mental health counselor, demonstrating effective counseling practices.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, preferably AVATAR or similar platforms, for documentation and treatment tracking.
  • Solid understanding of the psychological aspects of both physical and emotional health conditions, as well as substance use disorders.
Preferred Experience
  • Membership or familiarity with the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and the impact of medications prescribed by healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that promote a therapeutic and empathetic client-counselor relationship.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing community outreach and education.
Compensation and Benefits
