Job description

We're looking for multiple Retail Solution Architects to design and govern end-to-end solutions across the retail value chain-Supply Chain & Logistics, Store Technology, Merchandising, eCommerce/Digital, and enabling capabilities including AI/ML, data platforms, integration, and cloud. You will translate business outcomes into secure, scalable, and resilient architectures, partnering closely with product, engineering, data, security, and operations teams.

What you'll do

Architecture & Solution Design

  • Lead solution architecture for initiatives across supply chain, stores, merchandising, and digital platforms.

  • Produce and maintain architecture deliverables: high-level designs, integration flows, sequence diagrams, data flows, NFRs, deployment views, and architecture decision records (ADRs).

  • Define target-state architectures and transition roadmaps aligned to enterprise standards.

  • Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements: availability, performance, resiliency, scalability, security, and operability

Retail Domain Enablement (Cross-domain)

  • Architect solutions across domains including:

  • Supply Chain & Logistics: demand planning, replenishment, inventory visibility, WMS/TMS integration, ASN, yard management, DC automation, last-mile.

  • Store Technology: POS, store inventory, handhelds, RFID, edge solutions, offline/nearline patterns, store networking.

  • Merchandising: PIM, pricing & promotions, assortment planning, vendor onboarding, space/category analytics.

  • Digital & Omnichannel: eCommerce, order management, fulfillment orchestration (BOPIS/ship-from-store), returns, customer identity.

Cloud, Data, Integration & AI

  • Design cloud-first solutions using Azure and/or Google Cloud architecture best practices.

  • Architect enterprise integration using APIs, event-driven patterns, streaming, and batch.

  • Partner with data and AI teams to enable:

    • AI/ML lifecycle architecture (training pipelines, deployment patterns, inference)

    • GenAI-enabled use cases with responsible AI guardrails

    • Advanced decisioning for forecasting, pricing, inventory, personalization, and fraud.

  • Promote strong data architecture practices: domain-aligned models, master/reference data, lineage, and privacy.

Governance, Standards & Delivery Enablement

  • Participate in and lead architecture reviews; provide guardrails without slowing delivery.

  • Define and promote reusable reference architectures and patterns.

  • Ensure secure-by-design and operationally ready solutions in partnership with security and SRE teams.

  • Mentor engineers and analysts; contribute to architecture and engineering communities of practice.

Stakeholder Partnership & Influence

  • Work with Product, Engineering, and Business leaders to shape solution options and trade-offs.

  • Clearly communicate architectural intent, risks, and decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Act as a trusted advisor during delivery and planning.

What you bring (Qualifications)

Required experience

  • 7+ years in technology with 3+ years in solution or technical architecture roles.

  • Experience delivering solutions across retail platforms (supply chain, stores, merchandising, and/or digital).

  • Strong experience with API-led and event-driven integration architectures.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or GCP) including networking, identity, and deployment models.

  • Strong understanding of security, resiliency, performance, and observability.

Strongly preferred

  • Experience with retail enterprise platforms such as OMS, POS, WMS/TMS, ERP, PIM, pricing or promotion engines.

  • Data platform and analytics architecture experience (lakehouse/warehouse patterns, streaming).

  • AI/ML or GenAI architecture exposure, including deployment, monitoring, and responsible AI considerations.

  • Store edge computing or offline-first architecture experience.

Core skills

  • Architecture modeling (C4, UML, sequence/data flows, domain models).

  • Strong analytical thinking and decision-making.

  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication.

Our typical hiring range is between $80,000.00 and $131,000.00 per annum. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, job-related knowledge, skills and competencies, market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements.
