Position Summary

The Senior Manager, HR Technology Architecture (Workday & Other HR Technologies) will provide strategic architectural leadership across the HCM technology portfolio, including Workday, ADP Workforce Management, integrations, and other HR technology platforms. This role will establish the architectural vision, governance framework, design standards, reusable patterns, and assessment methodologies that enable scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions across the enterprise.

The successful candidate will combine deep technical architecture expertise with strong leadership and people management capabilities. They will lead architecture reviews, evaluate new technology and vendor solutions, establish technical standards, and build an architecture practice that supports current and future HCM initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise & Solution Architecture Leadership

  • Define and maintain the HCM technology architecture strategy and roadmap.
  • Establish architecture governance processes, design standards, templates, and reusable patterns across the HCM portfolio.
  • Lead architectural assessments for new technologies, vendor solutions, and platform capabilities.
  • Evaluate enterprise architecture alignment, integration approaches, scalability requirements, and non-functional requirements for proposed solutions.
  • Ensure new technologies and services align with established enterprise architecture principles.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for architecture artifacts, solution designs, and integration strategies.

Architecture Standards & Frameworks

  • Develop and maintain architecture frameworks, reference architectures, implementation standards, and design templates.
  • Create standardized assessment methodologies for evaluating new technologies and business requirements.
  • Establish a library of reusable architecture patterns and best practices.
  • Define architecture review processes and solution approval criteria.
  • Drive consistency in architecture documentation and technical decision-making.

HCM Technology Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership across Workday, ADP Workforce Management, integrations, and broader HR technology ecosystems.
  • Partner with delivery teams to ensure solution designs align with enterprise standards and business objectives.
  • Advise on integration patterns, data exchange mechanisms, security considerations, and system interoperability.
  • Support architectural due diligence for new vendor engagements and technology investments.

People Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of architects and senior technical professionals.
  • Establish clear expectations, objectives, and development plans for team members.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Build organizational architecture capabilities and architectural bench strength.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and development of architecture talent.

Governance, Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and implement architecture KPIs and success metrics.
  • Measure architecture effectiveness, solution quality, reuse, compliance, and technical debt reduction.
  • Lead architecture reviews and governance forums.
  • Identify opportunities to improve solution delivery processes and architectural maturity across the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise, solution, or application architecture.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams.
  • Deep expertise in HCM technology platforms, with strong preference for Workday architecture experience.
  • Experience designing enterprise integrations, APIs, middleware solutions, and data exchange architectures.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles, governance frameworks, and technology evaluation methodologies.
  • Experience leading architecture reviews and establishing technical standards.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence leaders at all levels.
  • Experience evaluating vendor solutions and conducting technical due diligence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive Workday architecture experience.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Management or other workforce management platforms.
  • Experience supporting large-scale HR technology ecosystems and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Background in establishing architecture centers of excellence or architecture governance functions.
  • Experience building architecture frameworks, reusable patterns, and technology standards.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms, SaaS integrations, and modern enterprise architecture practices.
