Patient Transport Orderly information

What is a patient transport orderly?

Patient Transport Orderlies are healthcare workers responsible for moving patients safely within hospitals and other medical facilities. Their duties include transporting patients between rooms, departments, and diagnostic areas, as well as assisting with the movement of medical equipment. They play a critical role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and dignity of patients during transfers, while also supporting nurses and other healthcare staff. Patient Transport Orderlies must be compassionate, physically fit, and able to communicate effectively with patients and medical teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a patient transport orderly, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Patient Transport Orderly, you need a basic understanding of patient handling, safety protocols, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with hospital transport equipment, wheelchairs, stretchers, and patient tracking systems is typically required.
