Addison Group is partnering with our client to hire a Patient Access Specialist who is passionate about providing exceptional service while supporting the patient registration and scheduling process. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with patients, thrives in a fast-paced healthcare setting, and has experience navigating insurance verification and electronic medical records.
Job Description
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented professional to serve as one of the first points of contact for patients throughout the registration and appointment process. This individual will play an important role in ensuring patient information is accurate, insurance coverage is verified, and appointments are coordinated efficiently while delivering a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome patients in person and by phone while providing professional and courteous customer service.
  • Coordinate new and existing patient appointments, including scheduling, rescheduling, and appointment confirmations.
  • Complete patient registration and maintain accurate demographic and insurance information within the electronic medical record.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, referrals, and authorization requirements prior to scheduled services.
  • Discuss patient financial responsibilities, including copays, deductibles, and outstanding balances, and collect payments as appropriate.
  • Obtain required consent forms and ensure all patient documentation is complete before services are provided.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff, providers, and insurance representatives to support efficient patient care and resolve scheduling or coverage issues.
  • Maintain accurate records while adhering to HIPAA guidelines and organizational policies.
  • Utilize EMR/EHR systems to document patient information and support daily registration activities.
  • Address patient questions and concerns with professionalism while helping resolve registration and insurance-related issues.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in patient registration, medical scheduling, healthcare customer service, or a related role.
  • Previous experience verifying insurance coverage and obtaining prior authorizations is required.
