Job description

Job Requirements
POSITION SUMMARY
The Patient Service Representative I provides friendly, rapid, and accurate patient support, including
completion of patient registration documentation, appointment scheduling and assistance with a variety
of departmental projects and clerical duties.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  1. Responds to customer's needs in a timely and professional manner.
  2. Answers telephones properly, courteously, and tactfully; directing calls and returning messages
  3. to the appropriate party; takes complete and accurate messages.
  4. Facilitates patient appointments and referrals in a timely, efficient, and friendly manner.
  5. Obtains demographic and insurance information from patient and inputs data accurately into the
  6. patient management system.
  7. Obtains required signatures on consents and distribute patient information and compliance
  8. literature.
  9. Verifies patient's insurance eligibility utilizing assigned tools, updates information in patient's
  10. account as needed.
  11. Prepares financial estimate of anticipated prices for the services to be rendered prior to the
  12. performance of services and communicates the information to the patient.
  13. Collects all current and past-due patient responsibility balances prior to services being
  14. rendered.
  15. Performs daily reconciliation, balancing, and cash out procedures and enters payment into
  16. practice management system.
  17. Prepares the next day's work for all scheduled patients.

Work Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Work Experience: 1 year of customer service
  • Licensure: None
  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Officer applications - Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.
  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Ability to relate well to all customers.
  3. Knowledge of Healthcare terminology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Associate's degree in relevant field.
  • Work Experience: Five (5) years of Healthcare office experience.
  • Certification: American Heart Association (AHA) HeartSaver CPR AED course.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Sedentary
  • Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, stooping Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
  • Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
  • May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
