Overview

The Patient Service Representative is responsible for the patient check-in process, updating computer patient personal information and insurance information, handling a multi-line phone system, medical records filing and maintenance, and collection of co-pays and cash payments.

Schedule: This is a full-time 40 hours per week position with a variable schedule. Start and end times may vary from day to day based on business needs, with shifts occurring between 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Flexibility in both start and end times is required.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Performs opening and closing clinic duties
  • Greets patients, checks in for appointments and verifies insurance
  • Scans documents into electronic health record
  • Maintains tidiness of waiting area and reception counter throughout the day
  • Checks schedules for added, canceled and no-show appointments throughout the day
  • Schedules follow up appointments as needed
  • Responds to designated tasks in the electronic health record
  • Orders clinic office supplies
  • Sells and tracks cosmetic products
  • Distributes mail
  • Prepares for next day scheduled appointments
 
 
 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • 1+ years of recent medical office experience or in a similar capacity is preferred
  • Proficient in basic computer functions
  • Ability to learn new software quickly
  • Must possess excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 wpm is preferred
  • Must possess attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to respond positively to constructive feedback and direction from supervisors
  • Must demonstrate professional appearance and manner at all times
  • Must display a friendly, cheerful, tactful, and polite demeanor, and must be compassionate and caring in dealing with others
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
