Job description

Paths is a full-scale, vertically integrated affordable housing developer, builder, and operator. Since 2004, the Paths team created and preserved high-quality affordable housing across the U.S. that enhances communities and helps residents build better lives. With over 14,000 units across 13 states under management and more than 500 employees, Paths manages a suite of capabilities spanning the entire property life-cycle, including development, construction, property management, maintenance, and security.

Summary/Objective: The Porter is responsible for assisting the Maintenance team in the day-to-day duties involved with maintaining the cleanliness of our property. This is an active, occupied residential community in Knoxville. We're looking for someone dependable who takes pride in keeping the property clean, safe, and running smoothly day to day. This is a hands-on role where you'll be moving throughout the property, staying busy, and supporting the team as needed. Some days are routine, and some days require flexibility and we need someone who can handle both.

Classification: Non-exempt (eligible for overtime)
Location: Knoxville, TN 37902

Essential function/Responsibilities: duties include but are not limited to the following

  • Maintain daily interior cleanliness of buildings, including common areas (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, window cleaning, and floor care including stripping, waxing, and buffing)
  • Perform daily trash handling and removal, including compactors, recycling, and curbside placement
  • Prepare vacant units for occupancy (trash-out and broom-swept condition)
  • Maintain exterior cleanliness of grounds, including walkways, parking areas, and outdoor spaces
  • Assist with light maintenance tasks as needed (light bulbs, filters, minor items)
  • Support seasonal needs, including snow removal, salting, and weather-related preparation
  • Monitor property conditions and report safety concerns or maintenance issues

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (bending, lifting, standing, climbing)
  • Experience with cleaning equipment (buffers, vacuums, etc.) preferred
  • Basic maintenance knowledge is a plus
  • Strong work ethic and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Good interpersonal skills and professional demeanor with residents and team members
  • Flexibility to support property needs as required

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour
