Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Department of Pathology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), Galveston, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the academic rank of Assistant Professor.
The successful candidate will develop an innovative, externally funded, independent research program addressing fundamental and translational questions in pathology. Research areas of particular interest in the department include infectious diseases, host-pathogen interactions, immunology, vaccinology, cancer, genomics, precision medicine, neurobiology or related areas. Candidates with expertise spanning multiple computational, cellular, immunologic, and translational domains are encouraged to apply including those using cutting-edge single-cell, spatial, imaging, systems, computational, AI-enabled, mathematical modeling, or large-scale data-integration approaches.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have a PhD, MD/PhD, MD or equivalent degree and postdoctoral research experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Expertise and high impact publications in cell biology, immunology, bioinformatics, genomics or neurobiology.
  • Physician scientists with an interest in clinical-translational research are encouraged to apply.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a record of independent research funding or potential to secure independent extramural funding.

Commensurate with experience.
