Job description

Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center – Marietta, Georgia

Wellstar Health System is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Staff Pathologist to join our growing pathology team at Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center, Wellstar’s flagship hospital and one of the largest tertiary care centers in Georgia.

This opportunity is ideal for a pathologist with strong experience in Surgical Pathology, including expertise in either Anatomic Pathology and/or Cytopathology. The selected candidate will join a high-volume, academically driven environment that supports a broad spectrum of complex surgical and oncologic cases.

Responsibilities
  • Provide diagnostic interpretation in Surgical Pathology cases

  • Perform and interpret frozen sections, biopsies, and complex surgical specimens

  • Participate in Cytopathology services, if applicable to training and experience

  • Collaborate with clinicians and multidisciplinary care teams to support optimal patient outcomes

  • Participate in quality improvement, laboratory accreditation, and peer review initiatives

  • Support teaching and mentorship opportunities, when applicable

  • Maintain timely and accurate pathology reporting standards

Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anatomic Pathology and/or Clinical Pathology

  • Fellowship training or significant experience in Surgical Pathology preferred

  • Cytopathology fellowship training or experience strongly preferred

  • Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Georgia

  • Excellent diagnostic, communication, and collaboration skills
