Role description:
Arcadis is seeking an experienced Construction Manager with a proven background in transit projects to oversee the delivery of complex capital improvements. This role is responsible for managing field construction activities, coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, and ensuring that all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. The ideal candidate brings deep familiarity with rail or bus transit environments and thrives in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary settings.
Role accountabilities:
  • Oversee day-to-day construction activities for transit projects, including stations, trackwork, guideways, bus rapid transit corridors, maintenance facilities, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Manage contractors, inspectors, and field personnel to ensure compliance with contract documents, safety standards, and quality expectations.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and submittals; identify constructability issues and coordinate timely resolution of field conflicts.
  • Maintain close coordination with transit operations, safety departments, and third-party partners to minimize service impacts and ensure safe work zones.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, verify quality, and ensure adherence to environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Track schedule performance, support cost control efforts, and prepare progress reports and documentation.
  • Lead or support negotiations for change orders, claims, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate construction meetings, maintain accurate project records, and ensure effective communication among all stakeholders.
  • Uphold all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including FTA requirements when relevant.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the project team.

Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of construction management experience, with at least 3 years in transit, rail, or heavy civil infrastructure.

Key Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of transit systems, including track, stations, utilities, signals, communications, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage contractors and oversee field construction in active or operational transit environments.
  • Familiarity with public-sector procurement, FTA guidelines, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with project management and construction tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Bluebeam, Procore).
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with transit agencies, transportation authorities, or large public infrastructure owners.
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Proven success delivering projects in constrained, high-traffic, or operational transit corridors.

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
