Role description:
Transit Rail Project Manager
Location: New York/New Jersey
Role accountabilities:
  • Serve in a project manager role on transit & rail transportation project delivered via various delivery methods.
  • Perform a variety of technical development tasks related to management of projects
  • Lead and manage the project team through all phases of project planning, procurement, engineering, execution, and closeout consistent with established project delivery processes to meet the scope, schedule, budget and other specified requirements stated in the contract
  • Manage the commercial interest of the client while driving the on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Accountable for overall management and successful execution of consultant's contract to ensure performance and profitability.
  • Develop and maintain Project Management Plans to include Program Controls, Document Control, Design Management, Risk Management, Safety Management, Quality Control, and Environmental Compliance.
  • Develop and implement a communication strategy to increase the effectiveness of discipline-related processes, systems, and practices, and mitigating discipline-related risks.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field;
  • 15+ years of experience in rail/transit engineering, with a focus on design and construction of infrastructure/system assets;
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the project management of transit /rail transportation projects;
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license; currently (or with ability to be) registered in the State of New York;
  • Demonstrated progressive experience in managing design for rail/transit projects;
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and project goals;
  • Knowledge of rail/transit standards and regulations, including APTA, AREMA, CPUC, AAR, FTA and FRA;
  • Advanced SME-level proficiency with transit and rail engineering principles, practices, process, standard of care, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues;
  • Proficient in engineering software, such as MicroStation, InRail, Open Rail, AutoCAD, Civil 3D;
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment;
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to engage at an executive level.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with MTA (NY), NJ TRANSIT, etc.;
  • Knowledgeable of MTA (NY) technical standards and processes and procedures;
  • PMP Certification;
  • Experience in delivering track, line structure, and/or system (traction power, train control, communication design/engineering programs;
  • Experience in managing a design-builder on behalf of the rail/transit agency;
  • Design/Build or other alternative delivery experience.
