Job Description Summary:

Faegre Drinker has an opportunity for a Patent Specialist to work with our Intellectual Property team in our Minneapolis, Chicago, downtown Indianapolis, Wilmington (DE), Denver, New York City, San Francisco, Washington D.C. office. You will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to providing a high level of service to both internal and external clients and combines both billable and value-added firm investment work. This position will work with other talented individuals who share a passion for doing great work in the best interest of our clients.

Job Description:

What you would do:

  • Overall support for all aspects of portfolio management
  • Assist in filing of US, PCT and foreign regional patent applications and responses
  • Assist in patent filing strategy discussions and due diligence
  • Manage client & attorney's dockets to ensure all deadlines are met in a timely manner
  • Assist with work related to on-going US/foreign procedures and other activities
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned

The anticipated initial hourly rate for someone who is hired into this position is $43.50- $50.25/hour based on a 37.5 hour a week schedule.

Actual initial hourly rate may be above or below the above-identified range and will be based on the relevant skills, training, experience, and other job-related factors, including the location where the position is filled, in all cases consistent with applicable law. This is a non-exempt role paid on an hourly basis. The initial hourly rate listed above is just one component of Faegre Drinker's total compensation and benefits package for professional staff, which includes, but is not limited to, a discretionary bonus; life, health, accident, and disability insurance; and a 401(k) plan.

What is required:

  • Two-year associates degree and/or a paralegal certificate or 3+ years of work experience as a patent professional in lieu of degree and/or certificate
  • Experience with patent prosecution or experience in a comparable position
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Electronic Filing USPTO procedures
  • Knowledge of various Court's systems and filing requirements
  • Experience composing routine correspondence
  • Knowledge of U.S. and PCT patent rules and procedure, national laws of other countries and Paris Convention applicable deadlines, preferred
