About the Role
The Cook position at Stoughton Kegonsa Elementary is a vital role responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals that meet the dietary needs of students and staff. This role ensures that food is prepared safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established health and safety standards. The Cook will contribute to creating a positive dining experience by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. Collaboration with kitchen staff and adherence to menu guidelines are essential to meet daily meal production goals. Ultimately, the Cook plays a key role in supporting the health and well-being of the school community through quality food preparation.
Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and menu plans, ensuring portion control and quality standards are met.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, equipment, and work areas in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and school personnel to coordinate meal service and address any special dietary needs.
  • Stand for extended periods while performing manual food preparation tasks, including chopping, mixing, and plating.

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Proven experience in food preparation or cooking, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
  • Ability to speak and understand English to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform kitchen tasks and stand for extended periods.
