Job description

Senior Pastor - Liberty Spring Christian Church

Using the precepts outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9, Liberty Spring Christian Church is currently praying for and diligently seeking a pastor-teacher; a pastor following wholeheartedly after God who feels called to be our spiritual leader and teacher. This person should be a good communicator - comfortable teaching and preaching to the flock - and have the ability to lead as directed by God.

In regards to preaching and teaching, we seek someone to be the spiritual leader of our church with the assistance of the Board of Deacons. We desire a teacher who will use an expository style to educate, guide, and build up our congregation towards spiritual maturity. This will primarily occur on Sunday mornings at 10:00AM using sermons built on a Biblical foundation which avoid political rhetoric. Other opportunities such as Autumn Care visitations, weekly Bible studies, and the Smoke and Fire program are available for our pastor’s participation as they feel led. Our pastor-teacher will preferably hold both university and seminary degrees and be ordained or eligible for ordination. The Senior Pastor will administer baptism and the Lord’s Supper and perform marriages and funerals.

For the aspect of shepherding and nurturing, we would ask our pastor teacher to offer pastoral care and counseling to the membership as appropriate to the pastor’s position and abilities. Collaborating with the deacons in relationship building and hospitality, our pastor will provide visitation for those who are hospitalized, shut-in, or otherwise in need of support when a request is made. The Senior Pastor will welcome new visitors and allow the deacons to follow up as needed. Because a pastor cannot single-handedly meet every need in a growing church, a vital part of shepherding is discipling and training deacons and small group leaders to support the congregation.

In the area of leadership and administration, our pastor will display a Christ-like example based on humility, patience, gentleness, and self-control. Ultimately responsible to God, our pastor will be a partner with the congregation on our journey of faith and fellowship. The Senior Pastor will be supportive of programs, events, and projects within the church and will participate as an ex-officio member of any board (without voting privileges and not serving as chairman) and provide guidance in keeping with God’s Word. Our pastor will lead by seeking God's vision for our church through frequent prayer and collaborative meetings with the deacons. This partnership ensures that all decisions are made in harmony with the congregation and under the pastor's guidance.

At Liberty Spring Christian Church, we believe that finding the right pastor is a prayer-filled, Spirit-led collaborative effort between our church leadership and the candidate. We look forward to welcoming a new pastor who shares our vision and who is excited to lead our church. The church is able to provide an annual salary range of $37,000 to $44,000 (salary and housing allowance combined) for our pastor based on a commitment of approximately 20 hours per week in service to the congregation. If one feels called to be a part of our congregation, please apply and join us in fulfilling our mission together.

Interested candidates should submit a resume, a statement of faith, and a link to a recent sermon.
