Job Summary:

The Passenger Services Professional Attendant works onboard the Grand Canyon Railway's passenger train, in all classes of service from Coach to Luxury, and is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of guest service during our passenger's experience while in route to the Grand Canyon.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to Xanterra's Mission Statement, Cultural Pillars, Community Commitment, and Core Values while representing the Grand Canyon Railway brand professionally through appearance, communication, and conduct.
  • Deliver consistently high-quality guest service to ensure a safe, welcoming, and memorable onboard experience, appropriately resolving guest needs, concerns, and unexpected situations.
  • Maintain passenger safety at all times by adhering to established safety procedures, railroad regulations, and company policies, and promptly reporting safety hazards, equipment issues, or guest-impacting concerns to leadership.
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of the Grand Canyon Railway, Grand Canyon National Park, and surrounding Arizona attractions, sharing accurate and engaging information with guests.
  • Prepare, maintain, and sanitize passenger railcars for daily service and return trips, including seating areas, buffet stations, bars, and restrooms, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and service standards are met.
  • Provide professional, responsible food and beverage service, including bartending duties, while accurately processing transactions using point-of-sale systems and complying with cash handling, alcohol service, and company financial policies.
  • Support the Company's Environmental Management System (EMS) and ISO 14001 standards by practicing waste reduction, recycling, and environmentally responsible operations.
  • Handle sanitation and biohazard situations with discretion and professionalism, following approved cleaning, disinfecting, and disposal procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and contractors, maintaining a respectful, professional demeanor in fast-paced or high-stress environments.
  • Successfully complete and maintain all required training, certifications, and safety refreshers within designated timeframes, and work in all classes of train service as assigned.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in schedules, assignments, and service locations based on operational needs, including attendance, punctuality, peak periods, and special event service.
  • Seasonal employees are required to support special event train services, including but not limited to Polar Express Train Ride, Pumpkin Patch Train, and other seasonal or chartered operations, as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support operational and guest service needs.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Previous 2 years' customer service experience in the hospitality industry.
  • 1 year experience operating a point-of-sale system processing payments, cash and credit cards.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous experience in the Railroad industry.
    • Previous experience as a passenger attendant (Flight or Rail).
    • Previous experience in a fast-paced customer-facing environment strongly preferred.
