School Bus Driver

Under the direction of an assigned Administrator, operates a school bus or transportation vehicle over designated routes within an established time schedule; transports students to and from school and on special events trips; performs daily inspections of a bus or transportation equipment; and performs other related duties as assigned and/or required.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: One year of paid experience in the transportation of school children, or the completion of a school bus driver training program. Recent job-related experience within the last five years is required. EDUCATION: Verification of a High School diploma, a GED certificate, or a higher degree is required at time of hire.

A COMPLETE EDJOIN APPLICATION CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certification (Possession of a valid California School Bus Driver's Certificate issued by the California Highway Patrol to operate a Type 1 Transit with air brakes.)
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate - CPR must be an in-person course AND both First Aid and CPR must be from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.)
  • DMV Printout (A current "K-4" DMV Printout dated within the last 30 days from DMV (Kiosk printout is accepted).)
  • Driver's License Copy (Possession of a valid California Class B License with air brake, passengers, and school bus endorsement.)
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (*Two (2) letters of recommendation are required. Each letter must be signed and dated within one (1) year prior to the date the application is submitted. * Acceptable signatures include electronic signatures completed through DocuSign or a similar electronic signature platform, or handwritten signatures. Typed signatures will not be accepted.)
