Hours: This is a floater position not assigned to a particular route. Will fill in as needed on other routes. Guaranteed a minimum of 4 hours per day. Hours and schedule will vary.
Salary: $34.01 - $37.57
Do you have a current CDL with S endorsement? Camas School District is offering a $2,000 signing bonus; $1,000 paid once hired and the additional $1,000 after completing 480 hours behind the wheel. Starting wage is $34.01/hour or more depending on years of experience.

We have driver trainers on staff to ensure you secure your CDL with endorsement. Camas School District is offering $1,000 Hiring Bonus; $500 after securing CDL & additional $500 after completing 480 hours behind the wheel.
In addition, Camas School District pays the following fees:

Trainees will be paid $18.00 per hour up to 40 hours of behind the wheel training & 40 hours of required classroom training.
We pride ourselves in our training program. You will train behind the wheel with driver trainers, and other bus drivers to learn the routes prior to operating a school bus with students onboard. We want you familiar with the school bus you operate, as well as the bus stops and area of travel. In addition, we provide electronic tablets that provide turn by turn instructions.

Reports to: Transportation Manager
Purpose: Safely operate buses and other district vehicles to transport students to and from school and other activities in all types of weather and driving conditions.
Essential Functions:
1.Safely transport students to and from school, for field trips, and other scheduled activities.
2.Provide supervision and student management to maintain the safe operations of the vehicle.
3.Build and maintain good relations with students, their families, district staff, and the community as a whole.
4.Maintain and/or update route books on a regular basis. Use maps, street guides, and other resources as necessary to complete routes and/or transportation students to scheduled destination.
5.Perform pre-trip inspections of vehicles per department specifications. This can include checking oil and fluids, as well as visual inspection.
6.Perform post-trip inspections of vehicles, as well as clean interior and collect items left by students. Report any issues to the transportation supervisor and/or bus mechanics as needed.
7.Fuel buses as needed following required safety processes and procedures for gasoline, propane,and diesel fuels.
8.Clean both interior and exterior of buses as needed or directed to include windows.
9.Perform safety functions to include emergency bus evacuations and managing the vehicle in unsafe road conditions.
10.Provide basic first aid for students as needed.
11.Attend all required training related to maintaining required licenses and as directed by the Assistant Director of Facilities.
12.Complete all required paperwork and communications related to work.
13.Work closely with principals and other district staff regarding the care and well being of students.
14.Perform other related duties for the successful operations of the transportation department and the school district.
Professional Qualifications:
1.High school diploma or equivalent required.
2.Possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver's license.
3.Acceptable driving record as evidence by a Washington state driving abstract report.
4.CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
5.Experience operating a school bus preferred.
6.Experience working with children desired.
7.Basic computer skills to include MS Office applications.
8.Must be willing to be flexible and do additional related jobs as assigned.
9.Support the mission and vision of the district and the transportation department.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
1.Must be able to pass a DOT physical as required to maintain CDL.
2.Able to bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, especially in an emergency situation.
3.Sitting for long periods of time while driving.
4.Noisy, sometimes crowded environment.
Work Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Benefits:
School Employee Benefit Board (SEBB) Eligibility determination: All eligibility determinations are based on rules in Chapters 182-30 and 182-31 of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC). If the position is anticipated to work a minimum of 630 hours in a school year, then that position would be deemed benefit eligible. SEBB benefits include medical, vision, dental, long-term disability and life insurance. Supplemental coverages are also available.
Retirement Eligibility determination: A certificated position participates in the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) which requires at least 5 months of 70 or more hours of compensated employment during a school year to be eligible for Washington State Retirement. A classified position participates in the School Employee Retirement System (SERS) if the position is expected to require at least 5 months of 70 hours or more for two consecutive years (initially) of employment.
