Job Summary:
The College of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a part-time Clinical Assistant Professor (12 MO), Program Director of Women's Health Nurse Program.
The Program Director for the Women's Health Nurse Program provides academic and administrative leadership for the Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Track, ensuring excellence in curriculum, instruction, and student support. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of women's health nursing education through strategic planning, program innovation, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Leading curriculum development, course revisions, and instructional delivery across didactic and clinical components.
  • Teaching courses and supervising practicum/clinical sections.
  • Advising students and serving on academic committees.
  • Managing program operations, including admissions, recruitment, marketing, and strategic planning.
  • Coordinating practicum placements and maintaining relationships with clinical partners and the university stakeholders.
  • Overseeing academic advisement and collaborating with faculty and university services to support students success.
  • Promoting open communication to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Supporting new faculty orientation and mentorship.
  • Assisting the Associate Dean with the ongoing program evaluation and accreditation compliance.
  • Preparing and submitting reports required for accreditation.
  • Engaging in scholarly activities appropriate to academic rank.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the Dean or .Associate Dean

Required Qualifications:
  • New York State Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License.
  • Doctoral Degree in Nursing (PhD, DNP, or equivalent);
    • Or, 5-10 years of clinical experience as a WHNP
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Women's Health.
  • Demonstrated scholarship in nursing through publications, presentations, or funded research.
  • Program administrative experience, including curriculum development, accreditation, and student advisement.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to foster interdisciplinary partnerships.
  • Experience with clinical site development and practicum coordination.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards (e.g., CCNE, ACEN) and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in data-driven program evaluation and continuous quality improvement.
  • Technological fluency, including database management, virtual simulation tools, and telehealth platforms.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Online teaching experience and proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).
  • Administrative and leadership experience in academic nursing or equivalent.
