Anderson Mill Limited District offers several programs that include After School, Summer Camp and Senior Programming. Under direct supervision of the Program Supervisor, after school staff assist in the facilitation of an elementary school-aged after school program and assist at events throughout the year. This position spans the RRISD school year calendar and is based on a 20+
hour work week (primarily Mon-Fri 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm), with occasional Holiday Camps and All-Day-Outs (7:15 am - 6:00 pm) and occasional weekend and evening events. We are seeking highly reliable and dependable staff to join our after-school team!
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Ability to engage with children 5 years old to 11 years old while providing leadership and excellent supervision.
- Assist the Program & Events Supervisor and the Programs Coordinator in managing the After-school, Holiday Camp, and All Day Out program needs.
- Ability to take direct feedback and supervision from both the Programs & Events Supervisor and the Programs Coordinator.
- Assist with the organization and creation of after school programming and educational curriculum when needed.
- Lead and engage children in age-appropriate activities (games, crafts, sports, homework help, etc.)
- Availability to work events as needed on weekends and evenings.
- Greet and answer questions from the public about all Parks, Recreation & Limited District components.
- Create a safe, clean, organized, and compassionate learning environment for youth.
- Must be able to swim and supervise children in an aquatic environment during fun Friday days (early fall and late spring).
- Assist with daily check-in/check-out procedures and maintain accurate attendance records
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and fellow staff
- Follow all program policies and procedures, including health and safety protocols
- Serve as a positive role model and promote respect, teamwork, and inclusion
Requirements:
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Staff must be able to work at times under minimal supervision in a fast-paced and highly energetic
environment. After school program takes place indoors and outdoors year-round. After school staff
are responsible for a very active position. This is not an administrative role. Candidates must be
able to lift to 30lbs and repeatedly bend, stoop, and engage children in activities in a variety of
climates both inside and outside. Understand, speak, read, and follow diagrams and instructions in
English is necessary.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education, training, and experience, which likely provides the required
knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position. Prefer 2+ years of college education in
Child Care Education or Recreation Programming. Will substitute experience for education. Must be
certified in American Red Cross CPR/AED, Basic First Aid, Basic Water Safety, and Child Protection
within the first 30 days of hire. Must have a current driver’s license.
