GENERAL SUMMARY:

Wait Staff Associates participate in providing a total quality dining service program for our residents. This includes a thorough understanding of food items available, resident dietary needs, proper serving guidelines, cleanliness expectations, and special diets. Assist with duties to ensure community meets sanitation standards.  


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • General duties include but are not limited to: cleaning, mopping, sweeping, and dusting the kitchen and dining room
  • Ensures proper garbage and trash removal
  • Assist residents with seating in the dining room
  • Greet residents when taking and serving meal selections
  • Ensure proper dining room setup and proper table setting
  • Knowledge of table clearing techniques during and after dining service
  • Responsible for resetting table during and after dining service
  • Complete side work: napkin folding, stocking and cleaning wait station, refilling condiments
  • Understand menu items and ability to explain preparation methods
  • Provide a high satisfactory level of customer service to promote a restaurant style dining atmosphere 
  • Knowledge of individual diet needs as prescribed by physician
  • Ensure all meals delivered are garnished
  • Reports to the Cook or Executive Chef any equipment and supplies that are needed
  • Ensures the proper use of equipment and supplies and upholds cleaning and safety standards
  • Must be in company uniform and resident ready at all times
  • Performs other related essential duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, residents, family members, vendors, referral sources and outside contacts
  • Able to make independent decisions
  • Must be able to communicate a warm, friendly and caring manner 
  • Must be able to follow recipes and menus
  • Must fully understand the importance of reliability and timeliness
  • Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in serving in an upscale dining environment is preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Able to stand or walk 75% of the day
  • Able to concentrate with frequent interruptions
  • Able to work under stress and in emergency situations
  • Able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping
  • Able to talk and hear effectively in order to convey instructions and information to residents and team members
  • Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds


OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE / PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

  • Work in all areas of the community
  • Subject to reactions from dust, disinfectants and cleaning chemicals and may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases and other conditions
  • Use personal protective equipment and supplies when needed to prevent burns, falls, and infection
  • Personal protective equipment includes infection control kit, rubber gloves and non-slip shoes
  • Wear the appropriate hair restraints, all hair is secured off the shoulder, wear the appropriate uniform and slip resistant shoes.
  • This position is exposed to very hot water, hot oven temperatures, sharp knives and utensils, and broken glass, slippery wet floors and other ordinary kitchen environmental risks, requirements for personal protective equipment are apron, hair net, chef’s hat and coat, rubber gloves, hot pads, non-slip shoes, short sleeves
  • Subject to infectious diseases, substances and odors
  • Follow Safety Policy & Procedures
