ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

SUMMARY: Recruiting one part time student research assistant for the position of Chief Engineer for the Bronco Space Lab CADENCE grant under the supervision of Drs. Andrew Ketsdever and Phyllis Nelson. This position requires extensive experience with cubesat design and construction as well as engineering project management.

SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):

  • The Chief Engineer will oversee a team of approximately 40 students who are developing a cubesat to monitor the radiation environment in low earth orbit with a focus on the South Atlantic Anomaly region.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a Cal Poly student with experience in cubesat design working in a team environment
Experience with engineering project management tools and software
Excellent English verbal communication and writing skills
Responsible and dependable
Ability to work well with various people including students, faculty, staff, and high-level administrators
Motivated, innovative, and shows initiative

PREFERRED:

Experience in the CADENCE project, preferably as a team lead
