Job description

General Description The City of Hamilton is an EEO & AAE. Minorities and women are encouraged to apply. This is a temporary part-time position which includes general office and field work requiring skills in the particular area of assignment.

Examples of general work would include communicating with the public at the police desk, answering general police questions over the telephone, computer work, conducts inspections, placing traffic signs in the community, assisting with prisoner paperwork, assisting various police sections with general tasks, clerical work, and maintaining the police building. Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of appointment and should be interested in a career in Law Enforcement. Consistent with the work assignment and level of responsibility, candidates must possess a valid Ohio driver's license.

Essential Job Functions Makes building inspections and records data accurately based upon observations; Prepares reports or tabulations based upon requests from various sections; May perform organizational tasks using computer programs; May perform tasks involved in equipment organization; May do data entry for police related classes; Performs related work as required. Instill confidence in the police team and the customers and stakeholders; Demonstrates strong problem solving and communicates effectively; Provides accurate information; Employs City policies, practices, and philosophies in accomplishing tasks. Skills/Knowledges/Abilities Advanced skill in the particular area where utilization is required; Skilled knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment, including the use of computers and of engineering and/or domain-specific knowledge; Ability to learn department and City-wide procedures and standard policies; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other City employees, supervisory personnel and the general public; Ability to work in enclosed spaces, outdoors in all types of weather, etc.
