Job description

Field Technician Work Without the Commute

On-Site Health & Safety places a trained Field Technician on industrial worksites — construction, refineries, plants — to handle injury response, health screenings, and incident documentation. Your scheduled week is five eight-hour days, and you start and end it at home in a company vehicle. Beyond that, you decide how much more you work.

Why this role

  • No commute, and no gas bill for one. A company vehicle comes home with you. On a typical commute out here, that's roughly $1,400 a year in gas you're not buying.
  • A schedule you have a say in. Full-time, part-time, and PRN options, plus shift trading when you need a day back.
  • Pick up as many extra shifts as you want. PRN is open to every position, with no cap, and extra shifts pay a bonus on top of your hourly.
  • Tuition assistance and paid training, including a pathway to phlebotomy certification.
  • $19-20 /hour, paid on-call, comprehensive medical, 401(k).

What you'll do

  • Respond to workplace injuries and provide first aid
  • Complete incident reports and site documentation
  • Perform health screenings and testing
  • Perform phlebotomy after completing our certification pathway
  • Support worksite health and safety compliance
  • Be a steady, trusted presence for the crews you work with

This is a mobile role. You'll travel between worksites rather than working out of one fixed location, and the work is occupational health and safety on industrial sites.

Benefits

Pay and extra earnings

  • 19-20$/hour
  • On-call stipend: $45 per weekday night, $150 per weekend — plus your hourly rate for every hour you actually work on a callout
  • Extra shifts pay a bonus on top of your hourly rate

Schedule and flexibility

  • Alternative work week: 4x10's & 1 night shift rolling into a day off.
  • Full-time, part-time, and PRN options
  • PRN shifts are open to every position. Whatever your status, you can pick up as many extra shifts as you want — there is no cap
  • Shift trading with teammates when you need a day back

Vehicle

  • Take-home company vehicle. You clock in and out from home, so you're not buying gas for a commute or putting work miles on your own car

Training and career growth

  • Tuition assistance
  • Paid training, including in-house schooling and a pathway to phlebotomy certification
  • Internal promotion and career advancement — add certifications and move up without leaving the company
  • Transfer flexibility across 20+ states as your career or your family moves

Health and retirement

  • Comprehensive medical plans with a wide range of choices
  • 401(k) retirement plan

Who we're looking for

  • EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, or Military Medic
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Emergency Medical Responder, Phlebotomist, Medical Assistant, or CNA — these qualify with additional in-house training, which we provide

Strong communicators do well here. You'll brief crews and give clear instructions under pressure.

Minimum qualifications

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Insurable under our motor vehicle policy: 3+ years driving history or documented defensive driving training, no severe MVR hits
  • Pass a criminal background check, as permitted by law
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and remain compliant with ongoing testing

Also worth knowing

  • We operate 24 hours a day. On-call rotation includes some overnight and weekend shifts, and call volume varies by site and day.
  • Standing, walking, and climbing stairs for extended periods.
  • Extended driving between sites, sometimes long distances.
  • Due to the possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens or bodily fluids, immunization against hepatitis B is recommended.

What happens after you apply

  1. Apply online
  2. A recorded video interview — about 15 to 20 minutes, completed on your own time
  3. Interview with the hiring manager
  4. Offer, contingent on background check and drug screen

Disclaimers

On-Site Health & Safety conducts an extensive background check, which includes a motor vehicle driver's license check. The insurance company and internal safety department review MVR records to determine if an applicant will be extended fleet driving privileges based on several risk factors, including previous negative "hits" on an MVR check, such as excessive moving violations, DUIs, reckless driving, etc. The search also considers a driver's driving age/history.

Applicants must meet the minimum requirements above to apply. On-Site Health & Safety offers of employment are contingent upon the successful outcome of a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Due to the nature of On-Site Health & Safety services, employees may have access to federally funded or owned job sites/projects. As a result, all new hires and existing employees are subject to drug testing in a manner consistent with a federally compliant test. The test may include all substances that can be found in Department of Transportation-regulated tests. The timing of testing includes pre-employment, reasonable suspicion/reasonable cause, and return to duty.

Some employees may be classified as having safety-sensitive positions. These positions are identified as Field Personnel, including Technicians, Supervisors, Managers, Field Training Specialists, and any variation of those positions. These positions are also subject to post-accident and random testing.

Due to the possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens or bodily fluids, immunization against hepatitis B is recommended.
