Job description

Title: Religious Education Events Coordinator
Status: Part-time (24hrs per week), Non-Exempt, Non-Benefits Eligible
Reports to: DRE
Position Summary
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish is seeking a part-time Religious Education Events Coordinator to help create organized, welcoming, and well-executed Religious Education programs and events. This role coordinates the logistics for sacramental celebrations, retreats, meetings, weekly sessions, seasonal programs, and other parish Religious Education events.
Under the direction of the Director of Religious Education, the Events Coordinator independently manages the logistical planning and execution of assigned Religious Education programs and events, including schedules, facilities, supplies, hospitality, volunteers, communications, setup, and event preparation. The Coordinator is expected to use sound judgment, initiative, and problem-solving to carry responsibilities through completion.
Schedule
This position follows a combination of required program hours and flexible administrative hours. Required attendance includes scheduled Religious Education sessions; major events; sacramental celebrations; retreats; parent, catechist, and board meetings; training sessions; prayer services; seasonal programs; and other activities requiring event coordination throughout the program year.
The remaining work schedule is flexible and coordinated with the Director of Religious Education based on event schedules, seasonal programming, and departmental priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Event and Program Support
  • Prepare and provide on-site coordination for Religious Education sessions, meetings, and events, including facility/room scheduling, setup and cleanup, supplies and inventory, hospitality, volunteers, and other logistical needs.
  • Maintain event calendars, planning documents, operational records, inventories, registrations, RSVPs, and communications with vendors, parish departments, outside partners, and families.
  • Coordinate with the Program Assistant and Office Assistant to ensure instructional materials, classroom resources, attendance materials, mailings, printed materials, and other administrative needs are prepared for events and programs.

Collaboration
  • Work with the Director of Religious Education to plan, organize, and implement events and seasonal programming.
  • Build positive working relationships with clergy, parish staff, catechists, volunteers, families, vendors, and community partners.
  • Serve as a welcoming and professional representative of the Religious Education program at events and meetings.
Required Qualifications/Core Strengths for Success
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience coordinating events, educational programs, parish ministries, nonprofit organizations, hospitality, or related work preferred, with demonstrated strengths in event planning, coordination, hospitality, and customer service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, with the ability to independently learn and navigate parish software and other technology platforms necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position.
  • Strong organization, project management, time management, written and verbal communication, attention to detail, follow-through, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Professional, welcoming, service-oriented, collaborative, adaptable, and able to work independently with sound judgment, initiative, confidentiality, discretion, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to accurately complete electronic payroll timecards and required employment documentation.
  • Successful completion of Safe Environment/VIRTUS requirements and a criminal background check prior to employment.
Other Duties
Support the overall mission of the Religious Education program by assisting with seasonal initiatives, special projects, and additional responsibilities as assigned.

The wage rate for this position is between $21.00 and $25.00 per hour. An employee's pay within this range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
