General Description:
The Religion Department at Pacific Lutheran University invites applications for a part-time lecturer position to teach one section of Health and Healing in Christian History (RELI 229). This course will be taught online and asynchronously in January-term 2027, and open only to students enrolled in PLU's Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program. The successful candidate will have expertise in religion and medicine in Christian history, and will have taught online (preferably with experience using Canvas).
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Teach one (1) section of RELI 229 in January-term 2027.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Commitment to effective teaching at the undergraduate level.
• Teacher-scholar trained in religion and medicine in Christian history.
• Online teaching expertise.
• Ability to contribute to fostering diversity of the campus, curriculum, and/or discipline.

Required Qualifications:

• ABD or MA in Religion or closely related field must be in hand by January 4, 2027.
• Applicant must be legally eligible to work in the United States on hire date AND legally authorized to work in the United States for Pacific Lutheran University without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or ABD in Religion or closely related field strongly preferred.
• Online teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
