Job description

TITLE: Floater Teacher
LOCATION: Madison Avenue Clubhouse
DEPARTMENT: Early Learning (24)
REPORTS TO: Senior Program Director
FLSA STATUS: Part-Time
Hourly Rate: $18.00
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The ELC daycare center floater is a versatile, nurturing professional who supports various classrooms by covering staff breaks, covering absences, and maintaining required child-to-staff ratios. They ensure consistent care across ages (preschool-school aged) by assisting with activities, meals, and supervision, requiring high adaptability and strong communication skill.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Classroom Support: Move between classrooms to assist Head teachers/Assistant Teachers, providing coverage to maintain ratios, covering breaks, or filling in during absences.
  • Child Care & Safety: Actively supervise children during play, meals, and nap times to ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment.
  • Curriculum Assistance: Implement age-appropriate activities and support educational, social-emotional development as directed by lead teachers.
  • Daily Care Tasks: Assist with meals, snacks, potty training, and cleaning/sanitizing surfaces.
  • Adaptability: Quickly learn and follow the routines, schedules, and lesson plans of different classrooms.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED is required
  • Experience: Previous professional experience in a childcare or daycare setting preferred.
  • Certification: Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift children (up to 40 lbs), bend, and sit on the floor.
  • Skills: Strong communication, flexibility, and the ability to work with diverse age groups

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Required to lift frequently up to 30 lbs., occasionally with assistance 50+lbs.
Ability and/or willingness to learn how to operate various types of machinery to perform cleaning tasks as required.
Must be able to constantly position to frequently bend, stoop, reach and kneel to perform essential functions.
Extended time on feet is required to perform essential responsibilities.
Ability to climb up and down stairs and use ladders.
Works with or in areas where hazardous materials/cleaning agents may be present.
Required to wear as directed, appropriate face mask while performing job responsibilities and while present in public spaces on site.
Required to work in a tobacco-free environment.
