Job description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Automotive Parts Manager to oversee our parts department operations. In this role, you will be responsible for inventory control, vendor relationships, pricing strategies, and leading a high-performing parts team. You will work closely with the Service Department and retail customers to ensure timely availability of parts, maximum profitability, and exceptional customer service.


Key Responsibilities
  • Department Leadership: Hire, train, schedule, and supervise parts counter associates and inventory specialists.

  • Inventory Control: Manage stock levels, conduct periodic inventory audits, track turn rates, and minimize obsolete or overstocked inventory.

  • Purchasing & Procurement: Establish and maintain relationships with OEMs and aftermarket suppliers to source quality parts at competitive prices.

  • Operations & Sales: Oversee counter sales (retail, wholesale, and internal service orders) and resolve customer or technician inquiries promptly.

  • Service Collaboration: Coordinate closely with the Service Manager to ensure required parts are stocked or ordered efficiently for scheduled maintenance and repairs.

  • Financial Management: Forecast monthly/annual goals, manage departmental budgets, track expenses, and set profitable pricing strategies.

  • Compliance & Safety: Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal hazardous materials regulations (HAZMAT) and ensure safety standards are followed in the parts warehouse.


Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: 2–5+ years of automotive parts experience, with at least 1–2 years in a management or supervisory role preferred.

  • Technical Proficiency: Experience using Dealership Management Systems (DMS) such as CDK Global, Reynolds & Reynolds, or Dealertrack, along with electronic parts catalogs (EPC).

  • Skills: Strong organizational, inventory management, and financial acumen. Excellent leadership and customer service skills.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; relevant trade certifications or associate degree is a plus.

  • Driver's License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.


Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE Certification (P2 - Automobile Parts Specialist).

  • Prior experience with OEM-specific parts cataloging and warranty return procedures.
