Parts Inventory Supervisor Jobs in Virginia (NOW HIRING)

S.P. Kinney Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Parts & Inventory Manager for our Virginia manufacturing facility. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory, receiving and tracking incoming materials, issuing parts to jobs, organizing stock, and ensuring that materials can be properly traced throughout the manufacturing process.

This is a hands-on position in a manufacturing environment. The Parts & Inventory Manager will work closely with production, purchasing, engineering, management, and shipping personnel to make sure the correct materials are available when needed and that inventory records remain accurate.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working in a shop environment, and willing to take ownership of the plant's inventory and material-control systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day inventory and parts operations for the Virginia facility.
• Receive incoming materials, components, and purchased parts.
• Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and receiving documentation.
• Assign and maintain proper inventory identification numbers for received materials.
• Ensure all applicable materials are properly entered into and tracked through the company's VIL/VIS inventory system.
• Label, organize, and store inventory in clearly designated locations.
• Maintain accurate quantities and locations for raw materials, purchased components, finished parts, and spare parts.
• Issue materials and components to specific manufacturing jobs.
• Ensure materials used on jobs are properly identified with the applicable job number and inventory number.
• Maintain accurate records of materials transferred between inventory, work-in-process, and completed jobs.
• Work with production personnel to ensure material usage is properly documented.
• Perform routine physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
• Investigate and correct inventory discrepancies.
• Identify missing, damaged, obsolete, excess, or incorrectly recorded inventory.
• Maintain minimum stock levels for commonly used materials and shop supplies.
• Notify purchasing and management when materials need to be reordered.
• Assist purchasing personnel with inventory availability and material requirements.
• Track customer-supplied materials and job-specific components separately from general inventory.
• Coordinate materials required for upcoming manufacturing jobs.
• Prepare and stage parts and materials for production as required.
• Assist with shipping, receiving, and preparation of outgoing materials when necessary.
• Maintain organized inventory racks, storage areas, receiving areas, and parts rooms.
• Develop and maintain consistent inventory-control procedures.
• Help improve the company's inventory, MRP, and job-tracking systems.
• Work with management to improve material flow and reduce lost, misplaced, or unrecorded inventory.
• Provide inventory reports and information to management when requested.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in inventory management, parts management, warehousing, manufacturing, purchasing, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment is strongly preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and follow established procedures.
• Comfortable working with part numbers, job numbers, purchase orders, bills of material, and inventory records.
• Basic understanding of mechanical or manufactured components is preferred.
• Ability to use computers and inventory-management software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other standard business software.
• Experience with an MRP, ERP, inventory, or warehouse-management system is a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, supervisors, purchasing personnel, engineering, and management.
• Ability to identify problems and follow through until discrepancies are resolved.
• Dependable and capable of working with limited supervision.

S.P. Kinney Engineers, Inc. is a family owned and operated engineering and manufacturing company that is located in Pittsburgh, PA with a satellite manufacturing facility in Richmond, VA. Selwyne Perez Kinney opened the company’s doors in 1941 in Pittsburgh with a focus on manufacturing equipment for the American Steel Industry.

He was a graduate of the University of Utah with degrees in metallurgy and chemical engineering. He was a member of many engineering associations, and through the years he was the recipient of many awards for his contributions to the iron and steel industries and his extensive experimental studies with the U.S. Bureau of Mines.

In 1976, his son Rol Frank Kinney took over the company. By this time S.P. Kinney was still heavily involved with the steel industry, but it was branching out into other industries with our water filtration lines. Craig Selwyne Kinney took over the company in 2001, and he has been running it ever since.

Today our focus is on making quality American-Made blast furnace equipment for steel mills around the world and water filtration equipment for any and all industries incorporating raw water or recirculating water in their facilities.
