Job Summary:
Mercury Systems IPS business unit has a great opportunity for an electrical engineer who specializes in Component Engineering to make an impact, and the ability help mature our component process and framework right away. We areseeking an experiencedComponents Engineer, Parts Engineer or Reliability Engineerto support ourclassified warfareproducts and related technologies. If selected,you will be part of theParts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) Team supportinga large production programinthe Integrated Processing Solutions business unit.Our products include aerospace systems that protect warfighters, noncombatants, and critical infrastructure. The work we do is making a difference in the world - today. This is a very hands-on, collaborative company and we value your input.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a EEEE parts or materials and processes expert in a robust PMP program supporting a multimillion-dollar franchise production program.
- Lead component reviews, analysis, and assessment against program compliance requirements for space and military programs.
- Collaborate closely with the customer, other government agencies, and cross-functional teams to resolve supply chain issues, review, improve, and document PMP activities, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Provide technical assessments to Material Review Boards (MRBs) to resolve non-conformances.
- Researching and determining the impact of PCNs and obsolescence on programs
- Leading component part standardization, part selection, and process change notices
- Developing EEE parts specifications detailing component screening and t qualification test plans and executing part qualifications with test houses
- Create and submit NSPARs for customer review and approval supporting component screening and qualification plans. Presenting non-standard parts and materials to customers, defending the use of non-standard parts and materials. Skillfully present detailed technical information to internal and external customers with confidence.
- Participate in RCCA and CAR/SCAR activities as needed.
- Support periodic audits of suppliers' facilities and processes.
- Manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Mentor more junior engineers and actively contribute to knowledge-sharing culture.
- Develop and maintain appropriate reports, databases and PMPCB meeting agendas and minutes.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, materials engineering, materials science or related discipline.
- Typically requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in related industry (i.e. defense, electronics) or two years plus a master's degree in related disciplines.
- Knowledge of common military and industry specifications and standards (MIL, ASTM, AEC, ESA, NASA, etc.)
- Experience collaborating with and managing suppliers, and requesting PPAPs, qualification reports, additional documentation.
- Knowledge of electronic fabrication techniques and processes such as SMT, chip and wire, hybrids, etc.
- Experience with the design and manufacture of electronic circuit card assemblies.
- Experience with the NSMAR NSPAR process or/and forms.
- Familiar with environmental testing per MIL-STD-883 (this is required); MIL-PRF-38534, 38535, passive components, etc.
- Clear communication - both oral and written - and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work remotely as part of larger team.
- The ability to obtain a US DoD Secret Clerance. US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of component ratings, and Derating requirement
- Understanding of failure modes in capacitors and packaged active devices.
- Prior experience in Design Engineering role, especially on space-based programs.
- Experiencedesigning complex embedded digital hardware products from concept to completion
- Experiencedesigning complex circuits with microprocessors, FPGAs, or network switches
- Prior experience in Quality or Supplier Quality organizations; familiarity with SAE AS9100 and AS9102. Knowledge of QMS requirements.
- Proficiency in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), MES (Manufacturing Execution System), Quality Management System (QMS), and MS Office software.
- An Active DoD Secret Clerance or higher.
