Description


Position Purpose:
Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with plumbing, heating, and HVAC product orders, accurately fulfilling materials, processing orders, and supporting daily counter sales and warehouse operations while maintaining company safety standards and a professional work environment. This is a full-time position based at our Great Barrington, MA branch located at 10 Crissey Road.

Essential Functions:

  • Actively seek opportunities to help customers at the counter and by phone, supporting plumbing, heating, and HVAC product needs.
  • Locate, pull, and obtain ordered plumbing, heating, and HVAC materials for contractor, commercial, and walk-in customers.
  • Assist in the handling of defective parts, returns, and manufacturer warranty information.
  • Process approved customer credits and product returns accurately in the inventory and order system.
  • Address customer questions regarding product specifications, pricing, availability, and lead times.
  • Ensure all plumbing, heating, and HVAC product catalogs and vendor materials are current and that expired versions are removed.
  • Accurately and safely move products of varying weights, including pipe, fittings, fixtures, and HVAC supplies, according to customer and warehouse needs.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced counter sales and warehouse environment.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls professionally and pleasantly, assisting with orders, questions, and pricing requests.
  • Accurately input, process, and fill customer orders using the company order entry system.
  • Accurately read, identify, and verify part numbers, SKUs, and quantities for order filling and material receiving.
  • Assist warehouse personnel with shipping, receiving, stocking, and inventory organization when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional counter sales and warehouse work environment.
  • Safely operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks in accordance with safety standards.
  • Remain up-to-date on all workplace, warehouse, and equipment safety practices and company standards.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as directed by management.

Requirements

 Experience, Education & Skills:

  • Counter sales experience in a plumbing, heating, HVAC, or building materials environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with plumbing, heating, and HVAC products, materials, industry practices, and basic regulations.
  • Results-driven and customer-focused with the ability to support contractors, trade professionals, and walk-in customers.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Requirements: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work. 
  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
