Job description

parts counterperson helps customers and mechanics find, order, and buy vehicle or equipment parts. They manage inventory, answer phone and in-person requests, as well as process a variety of paperwork on a daily basis 

Job Responsibilities

  • Customer Service: Greet retail or wholesale clients at our location, answer incoming phone calls with price and availability details.
  • Parts Identification: Read manufacturer catalogs, computer databases, and assembly diagrams to find correct replacement components.
  • Order Processing: Deal with multiple vendors, create purchase orders, sales orders and place special or emergency orders for out-of-stock items.
  • Inventory Control: Manage inventory stock and place orders to replenish
  • Returns & Warranties: Inspect defective merchandise and handle manufacturer returns. 

Job Requirements & Skills

  • Experience: High school diploma plus 3 to 5 years of customer service or sales experience in an automotive, agricultural, or heavy equipment setting.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to navigate digital parts diagrams and catalogs.
  • Communication: Clear verbal skills to explain technical options and suggest complementary items, should be able to hand write clearly
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to lift boxes weighing 30 to 50 pounds.
