Schedule: Up to 25 Management hrs/wk (may teach classes, hold additional roles, etc. if seeking full-time employment)

About the Role

The Yoga & Fitness Manager is responsible for leading our Y&F instructor team in creating exceptional experiences for our community and visitors. A deep personal knowledge of the subjects being taught and the experiences our customers are seeking is vital to the department's success. A focus on operational excellence including strong communication skills, a passion for people and the gym environment, as well as a connection to the community are all hallmarks of an excellent Y&F Manager.


What You'll Do


Staff Management

  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and support growth for all Y&F instructors.
  • Schedule instructors within labor budgets.
  • Foster a team culture of positivity, accountability, candor, and growth.
  • Lead with clarity in communication, real-time awareness of facility needs, and consistent feedback.
  • Oversee Y&F operations and empower instructors to deliver high quality classes to our community.
  • Conduct regular performance conversations and maintain up-to-date payroll and HR records.

Guest Experience & Emotional Culture

  • Model and train the instructor team in behaviors that foster a warm, inclusive, and safe environment.
  • Cultivate presence and an energetic tone during all guest interactions.
  • Lead with emotional attunement
  • Coach the team to approach every guest with empathy, clarity, and a human-centered mindset.
  • Ensure instructors consistently perform to the standards outlined in our Yoga & Fitness manual

Team Collaboration

  • Work with Director of Yoga & Fitness to align our program with company standards and initiatives
  • Collaborate with the GM to evolve the program to support customer's needs as the gym grows and changes. 
  • Partner with the other departmental Managers to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment.
  • Ensure all fitness gym and studio spaces, supplies, and equipment are maintained at a high standard.
  • Address and resolve facility issues in a timely manner.

Operational Leadership

  • Maintain a schedule of classes that balances the needs of our community with BP's goals and resources.
  • Provide on-the-floor leadership during peak hours as needed, especially during high-traffic seasons or events.
  • Manage department labor and operational budgets in partnership with the GM.
  • Lead occasional team meetings and participate in weekly management team meetings.
  • Drive department-wide events, seasonal promotions, and community-building initiatives.
  • Help find coverage for classes in the case of instructor absence, drawing from a pool of active teachers and substitutes. Cover classes you're qualified to teach, when needed.

Safety, Risk & Emergency Management

  • Support a culture of safety and risk management, ensuring processes are in place and followed
  • Act as Incident Commander in emergency situations in the absence of another manager.
  • Support program coverage needs and ensure emergency notification systems are in place.
  • Lead with attention to loss prevention and safety compliance.

Requirements

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum 2 years of teaching group fitness
  • A joy for developing instructors, helping guests, and building community
  • Strong people management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Maintain national group fitness and/or personal training accreditation certification through national organization (e.g ACE, AFAA, NASM, YOGA ALLIANCE, ISCA).
  • Current CPR / AED certification
  • The ability to perform moderate to strenuous physical labor, including demonstrating exercises and maintaining equipment
  • Familiarity with Approach, RGP, or other gym management software preferred.
  • Experience navigating tools such as scheduling platforms, payroll systems, or HRIS is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and labor budgeting.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a part-time, hourly position. Compensation is based on experience and local market benchmarks. Up to 10% additional compensation can be earned through our bonus plan.
