Job Summary
*This is an On-site, Part-Time Position. Variable scheduling during Kid Zone hours.
Every day hundreds of children utilize our Kids Zone drop in child care centers within our membership facilities, engaging in activities and building new relationships with our staff and other participants. You will be part of an amazing staff team who provide enrichment and safe supervision, teach teamwork and social skills, and support children as they grow and learn. You will be able to develop and implement program activities while also building positive relationships by providing prompt and courteous service to members, participants, and guests. You will also support other programming such as Parents Night Outs, Birthday Parties and Family nights and events.

Monday- Friday: 9:00 AM - 12:30 PMMonday- Thursday: 4:30 PM - 8:00 PMSaturday: 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Responsibilities
What you'll be doing
  • Supervises a group of children to ensure their health, safety and to provide a positive experience for each child.
  • Implements program activities. May be asked to assist in planning activities.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
  • Professionally engages with parents/guardians to provide pertinent information about their child's experience and to promote upcoming programs.
  • Ensures that toys and equipment are clean, safe, set up and stored properly.
  • Attends staff meetings and training programs as required.
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Qualifications
What we're looking for in an applicant
  • 16 years of age or older.
  • Six months or more previous experience working with children; camps, child care, tutoring, nanny, coaching.
  • Other applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered.
  • Ability to model and demonstrate Y values; caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
  • Experience planning and implementing group activities preferred

Preferred Education/Experience
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical activity, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
