Job Description:

Summary:

Support the Project on Civic Dialogue's programming including through event planning, communications and marketing, dialogue facilitation, research, and program design.

Essential Functions:

  • Learn and share principles of civic and academic dialogue.

  • Plan events for undergraduates, prospective students, and AU community that integrate dialogue across differences, civic engagement, depolarized communication, collaborative learning, academic freedom, and freedom of expression.

  • Promote PCD programming and curricular offerings.

  • Support Faculty Director and Staff Coordinator in developing and implementing curricular and cocurricular offerings that integrate dialogue into SPA and AU.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.

  • 10 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $18.40 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Open to undergraduate or graduate students at American University.

  • Students in good academic standing at American University.

  • Demonstrated interest in civic dialogue.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • PCD welcomes students with varied experiences.

  • No prior work experience is necessary, but we encourage interested students to reflect upon the role that dialogue has played in prior jobs and to share this insight with their peers.
