  • Part Time- 24 hours per week
  • Saturday: 7:00pm-Sunday 7:00am
  • Sunday: 7:00pm-Monday 7:00am
  • Additional hours may be available for holidays, PTO coverage, call-offs, and other security coverage needs
  • Rates starting at $21.00/hour PLUS $1.00 night shift differential.

Position Summary

The Part-Time Weekend Security Team Member is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors, and team members during weekend overnight hours.

The position performs routine interior and exterior security rounds, responds to emergencies and resident or staff needs, monitors building safety and security conditions, and documents incidents or concerns occurring during the shift.

The Security Team Member may also complete assigned light maintenance or preventive maintenance tasks when security responsibilities permit. Security and emergency response responsibilities always take priority over maintenance assignments.

Essential Functions

Security Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled interior and exterior security rounds throughout the campus.
  • Monitor buildings, entrances, parking areas, and grounds for unusual or unsafe activity.
  • Perform routine door and building access checks.
  • Respond to fire alarms, security alarms, emergency calls, and other incidents.
  • Respond to severe weather situations and other campus emergencies.
  • Assist residents and team members during after-hours emergencies as appropriate.
  • Contact emergency services and assist first responders when necessary.
  • Monitor security cameras and other security systems as assigned.
  • Unlock and secure doors as required.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, suspicious activity, or security concerns.
  • Document incidents and unusual activity occurring during the shift.
  • Complete required security rounds, logs, and shift reports.
  • Communicate significant issues to the Facility Services Supervisor, on-call maintenance team member, or other appropriate leadership.
  • Provide courteous and professional assistance to residents, visitors, and team members.

Maintenance Responsibilities

When security responsibilities and campus conditions permit:

  • Respond to minor maintenance needs within the team member's training and skill level.
  • Replace light bulbs and batteries.
  • Perform routine building and equipment checks.
  • Monitor mechanical equipment and record readings as assigned.
  • Complete assigned basic preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with minor repairs and other Facility Services tasks as assigned.
  • Report maintenance conditions requiring additional repair or follow-up.
  • Assist with snow and ice removal when needed. Security responsibilities and emergency response always take priority over maintenance work.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in security, maintenance, facilities, healthcare, senior living, law enforcement, military service, EMS, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout an overnight shift.
  • Good judgment and ability to respond appropriately during emergency situations.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and complete required documentation clearly.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic building maintenance knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Willingness to participate in required training and ongoing staff development.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.

Additional Expectations

The Weekend Security Team Member serves as an overnight representative of Frederick Living and is expected to maintain a professional, attentive, and helpful presence throughout the campus.

Additional hours may periodically be offered to provide security coverage for holidays, vacations, PTO, call-offs, training, or other staffing needs.
